lever tomber aller … noch immer … jetzt!
Brigitta Schirdewahn, Sabine Loew und Cornelia Falkenhan

“lever tomber aller….noch immer….jetzt!” is an interdisciplinary collage of dance, music, video, set and costume, dedicated to the life and work of choreographer and dancer Brigitta Schirdewahn. Now in her eighties, she enters into an intimate artistic dialogue with the young Frankfurt-based dancer Henri Klein. On stage, two bodies shaped by different dance traditions meet – and with them, two generations in conversation, reflecting on relationships, social change and identity through the lens of lived experience and biography. The duet is accompanied by musician Jacob Bussmann and a sign language interpreter, whose expressive presence opens up an additional, embodied layer of movement and meaning.

Jury statement

The jury honors “lever tomber aller… noch immer…jetzt!” as a groundbreaking, intergenerational project that brings dance across different life stages and developments to the stage. The theme of aging in relation to dance is both timely and challenging, and Brigitta Schirdewahn now an 81-year-old dancer addresses it through her own biography. In collaboration with 21-year-old Frankfurt dancer Henri Klein, she initiates an artistic dialogue shaped not only by their vastly different life experiences but also by distinct dance styles.
The result is an interdisciplinary collage of dance, music, video, stage design, costume, and sign language a kaleidoscope exploring identity, societal upheavals, human experience, resilience, the process of aging, and the transformative power of artistic creation.
