Produktionshaus NAXOS
Produktionshaus NAXOS is a key player in Frankfurt’s independent dance scene and aims to improve the production and performance conditions for dance professionals in the region through targeted infrastructural measures. This includes the acquisition of a mobile sprung floor and a flexible sound and lighting system, which will enable dance to be presented in a large stage space in future. In cooperation with ID_Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main, the establishment of a regular showcase series is planned as a format to increase the visibility of regional dance artists.
Jury statement
The listed, centrally located Naxoshalle in Frankfurt a. M. offers good conditions for artistic innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Theater Willy Praml had reclaimed it for the performing arts; the NAXOS production house is now a venue for the theater scene in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region, resulting from the collaboration of several independent theater and performance teams. The dance section of the program has been expanded since 2021, and several productions have already taken place. Now a bigger step is needed to enable dance at a high level not only in StudioNAXOS, but also in the hall.
The jury is convinced that the planned expansion with a flexible sound and lighting system and a modular sprung floor, which will be available to hire free of charge in cooperation with the ID_Tanzhaus, will sustainably strengthen the independent dance scene locally and beyond.
